One of the new features in the upcoming WordPress 3.1 release is the introduction of “Post Formats”. The intent of this feature is that you can select the Format for a post, and themes can give different formats specific display styling. If you are familiar with Tumblr , then you might already have an idea of how that works.

I finally got around to ordering some new personal/business cards for myself a few days ago. I’m no designer, but I think they look fairly decent. After I had put the order in, I thought of a couple of things I might have changed, but I’m not going to worry about it at this point.

I’ve been running this site on WordPress 3.0 for several days now (it was still alpha when I switched, and it hit beta-1 status on Friday night). Despite all the cool new stuff available in the new version, you probably won’t see much different when you upgrade. The most obvious changes that you might see in the admin area are that “Updates” moved from under “Tools” to under the “Dashboard” menu, there’s a new “Menus” item under the “Appearance” menu, and you might see upgrade notices for themes now, depending on the themes you have installed.

Earlier today, I finished up a WordPress plugin that I’ve been working on for a client. Without divulging too many details, I’ll say that it wasn’t a huge project, nor was it overly complicated, but it was interesting. One fun thing about working on projects for clients, is that it often gives you a chance to explore areas that you might not have looked too closely at on your own.

I mentioned before that the jQuery project was going to switch from Mediawiki to using WordPress for their online documentation .
